Here’s what makes this different

Most of the corrections you’re given have to survive the trip from the boards to centre ice, and by the time you get there the feeling is usually gone. This course closes that distance.

You prepare the movement off the ice, you watch it slowly on video, then you take it onto the ice with Maja talking you through it in real time.

The audio guide is the heart of it. Maja is in your ear while you skate, guiding you through each exercise, so the technical instruction arrives at the exact moment you’re moving. That’s what helps you feel the correct technique in the moment.

You can repeat those on-ice sessions as often as you like, for as many practices as you want. The course sits alongside your lessons and gives you a structured way to work on quality, on your own time, at your own rink.

Here’s who you’re learning from

Maja Luther

Maja Luther is the founder of Digital Skating School and the coach behind the SkateSmart Somatic Methodâ„¢. She performed as a principal in ice shows across more than 40 countries, choreographed for Olympians, and completed her Master’s research at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London.

Over the last 10 years she’s coached adult skaters and Olympic athletes to sharpen their skating skills.

Here’s what you’ll learn

This course works your basic skating steps inside simple and complex step-combinations that build across the five modules. Crossovers, cross rolls, C-steps, change of edge steps and a variety of hops all come back, combined in ways that ask more of your body awareness each time. Alongside them you’ll work on:

1Where your body needs to bein your edge positions and your turns, and how to sense when you’re slightly off.
2Clarity of executionso a step looks and feels like the step you meant to do.
3Glide, speed and efficiencywhich is where the beauty in skating actually comes from.
4Breathing while you skatewhich most of us were never taught and which changes how efficient your movement feels.
5Connecting steps on your ownthrough guided on-ice improvisations.

Here’s what’s inside

Five full modulesWork through them at your own pace, and they’re yours to repeat as often as you like. The steps grow in complexity as you go, and each module holds approximately 2.5 hours of training content.
Off-ice training that leads into on-ice exercisesEvery module starts on the floor, where the movement is broken down and slowed until it’s clear in your body. Then the on-ice tutorials, filmed in slow motion with the technical explanation. Each module’s off-ice session runs about an hour, and its on-ice exercises take 20 to 30 minutes to watch.
A full audio guide you complete while you skateHeadphones on, step onto the ice, and Maja guides you through the exercises as you do them, in real time. Just under 50 minutes, so it fits one patch.
A self-evaluation sheet with each moduleYou rate your own skating against what the module covered, which shows you where to put your attention next.
Live calls with MajaFive live feedback sessions. Send a video beforehand and she’ll analyse it on the call.
Lifetime accessIncluding every future update to the material, plus the bonus resources that come with the course.

Skating twice a week, a module takes about two weeks, but you set the pace. Come back to the whole course six months or a year later and you’ll find another layer in it.

Here’s what changes for you

A clearer sense of correct positions and alignment, on edges and in your step-combinations.
More glide and more speed for the same effort, because the movement is organized.
The ability to notice what’s off in your own skating and adjust it.
A base that everything else sits on top of, whether that’s jumps, spins, or your next program.
